John Bloomhall, president and chief executive officer of Diamond V Mills in Cedar Rapids, has been named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for 2010 in the Central Midwest Region.
Bloomhall was selected by an independent panel of judges and received the award June 2 in Overland Park, Kan. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses.
Bloomhall and 10 other entrepreneurs from the Central Midwest Region will be considered for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of the Year 2010 National Program. The winner will receive the award Nov. 13 in Palm Springs, Calif.
Bloomhall, who was recognized in the agricultural category, said he was ”honored and humbled” to accept the award.
“I would be remiss if I did not thank the Diamond V and Embria employees around the world who do the great things every day for which I receive this recognition,” Bloomhall said.
Other Iowa entrepreneurs receiving Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards were William Knapp, Jr., Knapp Properties, Des Moines (lifetime achievement) and Mike Wells, Wells’ Dairy Inc., Le Mars (manufacturing).
Knapp and Wells also will compete with Bloomhall for national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
