CEDAR RAPIDS- A Cedar Rapids auto repair shop ceased doing business this week with little warning to both employees and customers.
Albert Auto Repair, 3108 Mt. Vernon Rd. S.E., closed up at the end of the day Friday. Joyce Albert said she and her husband had sold the business bearing their name to another person nearly two years ago. That owner defaulted on the contract agreement forcing the closing.
The Alberts notified customers needing repairs to come and retrieve their vehicles from the closed business. The original auto shop owners do not intend to reopen the leased space as an auto repair business.
The business operated as Albert Auto Repair for approximately 10 years. It was a Goodyear franchise auto repair shop before that.
