Judge recommends revoking Marion insurance agent’s license

An administrative law judge is recommending that the Iowa Insurance Division revoke the license of a Marion insurance agent.

Judge Heather Palmer found that Bruce Bergen, owner of the Bergen Insurance Agency, 238 Blairs Ferry Rd., engaged in unfair trade practices, deceptive acts, misrepresentation, and failure to respond to the Insurance Division.

Palmer reviewed evidence and testimony involving Bergen’s handling of multiple insurance policies for Sandra and James Kalina of northeast Cedar Rapids before making a ruling on Wednesday.

Bergen has 30 days to appeal Palmer’s ruling to the Iowa Insurance Commissioner.

The complete ruling is available at http://www.iid.state.ia.us/orders_actions/bergen2.pdf
