IOWA CITY — The Community Foundation of Johnson County is awarding more than $105,000 to 47 non-profit organizations.
The grant awards will be presented at the foundation’s annual luncheon meeting today, Jan. 14, at the Iowa City Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center. The luncheon will be sponsored by RSM McGladrey.
The Community Foundation of Johnson County awarded grants totaling $13,300 to arts and culture; $17,700 to education; $8,800 to environment; $38,070 to health and human services and $10,800 to public and society benefit (organizations like United Way that collect funds for distribution to other non-profit agencies).
Kristin Summerwill, co-chairwoman of the foundation’s grant committee, said 76 applications were received requesting more than $1.06 million to fund programs.
“We are so grateful to our many contributors and volunteers for their financial support and gifts of time that champion these very deserving organizations,” Summerwill said. ”Our community is growing stronger with their assistance.”

Coralville Community Fund chose to fund the Coralville Ecumenical Food Pantry, Coralville Fire Fighters Memorial, Coralville Performing Arts and Safety Village of Iowa City/Coralville Inc.
