In case you’re wondering, the name on this blog page doesn’t necessarily
reflect my actual views or opinions about anything. (Unless it’s specifically
stated otherwise.) It’s just the name of my blog.
Blogs don’t necessarily have to have coherent content to be interesting or
useful.
My own blog is a prime example of this – the content varies from post to post,
and some are just listicles or collections of links. Yet, I still get a
thrilling return on my investment of time and effort in writing and maintaining
the blog.

The Best Ways to Make Money Online in 2018
With the world of online marketing changing as quickly as the seasons, it can be
tough to keep up. (Unless you’re specifically trying to focus on digital
marketing strategies and tactics. In which case, the information below may
be just what you’re looking for.)
The following are some of the best money-making strategies and ideas for
generating an income online in 2018.
Blogging (Including e-Commerce Blogging)
As I mentioned above, I own and operate a blog. (Actually, it’s an online
marketing blog – if you’re unfamiliar with the term, it’s basically a blog
that doesn’t focus on one specific topic but covers various aspects of online
marketing and entrepreneurship.)
Like any good blogger, I cover a variety of topics on my blog.
(The following
will discuss the BEST ways to make money online in 2018.) Some of my
topics include (but are not limited to):
- How to optimize your blog for search engines
- E-commerce best practices
- Product review copywriting
- Marketing analytics
- Digital marketing case studies
- And more!
While my own blog posts are a great way to generate some income, I also
do a lot of freelance writing and consulting for other publications. (I cover
technology and entrepreneurship for a living – the things I blog about are
just a small part of my expertise.)
When it comes to blogging and e-commerce, there are a variety of ways to
make money online. The key is to figure out what works best for you. (And your
personal circumstances.) Some of my favorite money-making routes include:
Sale pages and product review copies
Back in the day, people used to make a lot of money from affiliate marketing
– reviewing products and posting sale pages on affiliate networks like
ClickBank. (Reviewing products and
posting sale pages still makes a lot of money – just not as much as it used
to because retail review sites like
ReviewGolftr
have taken over. (I know – I run one of those sites.)
As I already mentioned, I’m an e-commerce marketing strategist and consultant –
which means I help brands and businesses succeed in the online space. (And I
love what I do.) So, naturally, I like to stay abreast of the latest e-commerce
trends and best practices. As a result, I consume a TON of content from e-commerce
bloggers and the platforms they write for.
One of the things I love most about this content is the opportunity it
provides me to generate revenue while helping businesses grow and reach their
potential.
Did you know that you can make money online by doing product reviews and
posting sale pages for other companies? You can – and it’s one of the best
ways to make money online.
You can use third-party review websites like
ReviewGolftr
or
Steam
to get product reviews for various platforms and mobile browsers.
When you’re performing a product review, you’re basically acting as
a salesperson for the company that you’re reviewing. You’re representing their
interests and pushing their products – which you’ll earn a commission on if
someone buys that product after reading your review.
The advantage of this approach is that you can get a lot of content cheaply
(since you’re not limited to one product per review) and make a quick buck
(especially if you’re doing multiple reviews per day.) Just remember: You’re
representing the company, so make sure you’re sufficiently versed in the topic
before you start writing for these platforms. (You can also use the content
you create for these platforms to create your own blog. Just keep in mind that
you might face some copyright issues since the content is typically licensed
under creative commons.)
Affiliate Marketing
Speaking of blogs, you can also make money online from affiliate marketing –
basically, when someone clicks a link and makes a purchase after reading your
blog post, you make a commission.
This is one of the simpler (and arguably, the most effective) ways to
make money online. All you need is a platform like
Affiliate Marketing
or
ClickBank
to connect with merchants, products, and services and earn a commission when
someone makes a purchase.
Another popular way to make money online is to become a freelance
writer or journalist and score some freelance writing gigs. (I would recommend
the former if you’re not sure what to do next.) When someone comes to you with
a writing project – whether it’s an article, white paper, or press release –
you’ve got a source of potential earnings. (Just make sure you’ve got a good
enough grasp of English to pull off the gig. And don’t expect to pull in
massive earnings right away. It could take some time to find your sweet
spot.
Sign up for a gig-working platform
There are several gig-working platforms that you can sign up for –
companies that connect skilled professionals with remote jobs. (If you’re
looking to make some money now, check out the
opportunities
on the Google Docs platform – in particular, the remote jobs section.)
You can use these gig-working platforms to perform a variety of tasks,
from moderating content to taking online surveys or finishing simple tasks like
data entry or research. (Just make sure you read the fine print before you get
started – many of these platforms require you to either have a home computer or
smartphone (no tablets or other mobile devices) and are usually only available
to US residents.)
You should also investigate the various ways that these platforms pay
you. Some pay weekly, others pay per job, and some (like Elance
and Golocomotive)
even give you an option to get paid per piece.
