Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Tai, and I’m a freelance writer and editor. I also own and run a small business and blog, called Simplemost.com. As the name suggests, Simplemost focuses on everyday products and gives opinion and practical advice on how to use them. For example, if you type “How do I make my bed feel like a hotel room?” into the search bar, you’ll get tips on how to achieve that hotel room mattress feeling. It covers all sorts of topics including health, money, and wellness. You can read more about my background here.
The Rise Of Online Entrepreneurship
Around 2009, the world changed the way we think about making money. Prior to that time, the only realistic way for most people to make real currency was to either find a job or to start a business. Recession may have curbed some of the optimism of the pre-pandemic days, but the internet opened up unprecedented opportunities for those who wanted to be their own boss and create a business that serves their needs. As a result, the number of people working independently, or “entrepreneurially,” went from 2% to 7% of the workforce in the United States in the last 10 years, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Why I Blog
Blogs have been around since the early days of the internet. They’ve mostly been used as a vehicle to promote websites and online stores, but in the past few years, they’ve become an all-purpose publishing platform, used for everything from news to product reviews to explainer videos. Here’s why I blog:
- To build brand awareness for my websites
- To attract potential customers to my websites
- To educate my audience about issues impacting my target audience
- To build my personal reputation
I have my own blog, called Simplemost.com. It focuses on delivering practical tips and advice on how to live a happy, healthy lifestyle. I share tips on nutrition, fitness, and productivity. I also review health products and tell people where and why they should avoid certain supplements and foods.
How I Make Money Online
I use several affiliate marketing strategies to bring in revenue. Some of these strategies earn me a commission when a purchase is made, while others give me a passive income stream. Here’s a breakdown of how I make money online.
The first source of revenue comes from Amazon. If you visit their site and make a purchase though an affiliate link, they’ll pay me a commission.
The second largest source of revenue comes from blogs. If you stop by and make a purchase through a link on my blog, I’ll earn a commission.
My third largest source of income comes from reviewing products. If you visit a site and make a purchase after reading my review, the company that manufactured the product will pay me a small commission.
I don’t get paid for every single piece that I write. In fact, articles are usually published only when they have run their course. After a few months, if an article is still getting a decent amount of traffic, I may consider keeping it up for a bit longer.
Having multiple revenue streams helps me keep my financial head above water. It means that even when one source of income is experiencing a downtrend, I can still rely on the others for support.
Future Of Affiliate Marketing
With the rise of online entrepreneurship, many traditional affiliate marketing roles have become less specialised. Programmers can now do web development, social media, and market research. Those looking for a change of pace can enjoy the flexibility of a remote job while earning a decent side income.
I expect to see more individuals taking on multiple roles as part of a diversified digital nomad lifestyle. As the world becomes more accessible through the internet, those looking to make money online can now find a role that suits them.
