How to Make Money by Posting Photos Online

Hello, my friend. It is indeed a pleasure to meet you. I have some exciting news to share with you. You may know that I have been making a living off of my photos for the past couple of years. And, just as importantly, I have been able to provide for my family very well doing so. But, as you may imagine, this line of work has been difficult to pursue, due in part to the uncertainty of the economy and the high cost of running a small business. Fortunately, I have now found a new way to make money online that doesn’t require as much effort or creativity as my previous endeavors. And, best of all, it’s something that we both enjoy doing. So let’s get to it.

The Idea Of The Blog

I want to talk a little bit about the idea of the online blog. And before I begin, let me remind you that I consider myself an expert in this area, having built, operated, and managed numerous blogs over the years. So, with that being said, let’s get to it.

You may be familiar with the adage ‘Content is King, and the Queen is always Content’. This is especially true when referring to blogs, as content is what brings in the leads, and the leads are what keep the business running. This content may be in the form of a news article, an opinion piece, a short story, whatever. Essentially, the idea is to provide quality content to attract and retain an audience, and ultimately, make money online.

But, very often, the content that we create lacks the ‘wow’ factor. In other words, we fall short of creating something special, compelling, and, perhaps most importantly, unique. When this happens, the power of the adage ‘Content is King, and the Queen is always Content’ is completely undone, and we run the risk of our content going nowhere, or at least, not going far.

Enter the online blog. What is an online blog, you may ask?

An online blog is simply a blog that you can access from anywhere in the world, with the exception of a few countries where there is ‘blogging’ banned by law. So, in essence, an online blog is a blog that you can create and maintain from anywhere, at any time, using any device (desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone). This makes it possible to write and post content, at any time, from anywhere, to anyone, allowing you to engage with an audience, and potentially, make money online.

As a blogger, entrepreneur, and photographer, I often get questions regarding the best way to make money from a blog. Especially now, as the cost of living continues to rise, while the rate of affiliate sales declines, it’s important to look for new opportunities to make money online. And what could be more exciting than creating a blog that you can enjoy, while being able to make a few extra bucks? Let’s get to it. The step-by-step process to create your own blog, and start earning money.

Where Should You Blog?

This is a question that has plagued bloggers, entrepreneurs, and photographers for years. The short answer is: anywhere you want, as long as you have a computer and an internet connection. Remember, a blog doesn’t have to be traditional, and you certainly don’t have to limit yourself to writing about photography. With the right tools, and a little bit of imagination, the world is at your fingertips.

The key is to establish yourself as an expert in your chosen field. Make it your mission to become the go-to source for information on your topic. And, for optimum results, establish multiple blogs across different industries, so that you can continue to post during blackout periods, when others can’t.

What Should You Blog about?

In addition to establishing yourself as an expert in your field, and having a passionate followers, or ‘audience’, you must also choose a topic that is highly relevant and currently ‘in-demand.’ When you establish yourself as an authority in your area, and pick a topic that is both highly relevant and in-demand, you virtually guarantee that you will be able to make money from a blog. So, with all this being said, here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Technology
  • Science
  • Health
  • Fashion
  • Style
  • Society
  • Politics
  • Arts

If you can become the go-to source for information on your topic, you will be able to generate a steady stream of income, and potentially, make money from a blog. For example, if you are a fashion expert, and you know that the majority of your audience spends their time looking for fashion advice, why not create a blog, and establish yourself as the go-to source for fashion advice? Or, if you are an art expert, and you know that your audience spends their time looking at, and discussing, art, why not create a blog, and establish yourself as the go-to source for art advice?

The possibilities are endless, as long as you have a topic that you can establish yourself as an expert in. Remember that the most successful blogs out there are those that established themselves as authorities in an area, and then used their authority to promote a brand, sell a product, or give advice on a specific topic.

How Do You Establish Yourself As An Expert?

As I mentioned earlier, the first step to making money from a blog, is to establish yourself as an expert in your field. This is easier said than done, however, especially if you are completely new to the game. To get started, you will need to do a bit of research, and then, find or create some content that is both relevant and of good quality. Make sure to establish multiple blogs, across different industries, and then, begin to blog regularly.

From the very beginning, you must make it your mission to be the go-to source for information on your topic. This has a number of advantages. First, you can use your blog to establish yourself as an expert. When your audience turns to you, looking for advice or an explanation of a current event, you can point them to your blog. Second, you can use your blog to promote your products. If someone is looking for information on how to buy a camera, and comes across your blog, you can promote a product, or affiliate link, for a brand that produces cameras. Third, you can begin to build a community. If someone is looking for fashion advice, and begins to follow your blog, you can reach out to them, encouraging them to leave a comment, and, perhaps, become a part of the community.

Establishing a blog is very easy. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and either a paid or free WordPress account. From there, it’s simply a matter of establishing regular posts, describing your research, reporting on interesting news stories, or providing tips and advice on your topic. Once you have posted a few times, and gained some traction, begin to look for affiliate products, or brands, that are relevant to your topic, and then, begin to promote those products, earning you a modest income, or even, some extra bucks. And, last but not least, make sure to monetise the content that you create, establishing yourself as a ‘thought leader’ in your chosen field.
